Biblioteket Fredriksberg

Denmark

The main library in Frederiksberg, Biblioteket Frederiksberg, has undergone a major renovation in recent years, restoring its beautiful Art Deco style to its origin. Any modern addition to the building was carefully designed, ensuring a coherent design language throughout the entire building.

Gagarin's contribution to the renovation was designing an interactive wayfinding table based on their unique turntable technique. The aim was to enhance the visitor experience by providing information about the library's services and book types as they navigate the building. The dynamic installation also showcases the library's upcoming events, further enriching the visitor's journey.

Gagarin designed a rounded table in the Art Deco style to fully comply with the house's overall design. It is a custom-built piece with a circular LED screen on top (covered with glass), a computer at the base of the table, and sensors to track the presence and movement of the rim. The table disseminates information in three different directions, serving all who stand around it.

The interactive wayfinding table operates seamlessly. Upon arrival, a welcoming screen displays dynamic information text and images the library wants to disseminate. However, as soon as a visitor interacts with the table, the welcome/idle mode information disappears, and the names of all destinations elegantly slide from underneath the table's rim. This intuitive design ensures a user-friendly experience for all visitors.

The library is a public library and is open to everyone.
